About Will Brown

My professional background is in the zoo and aquarium industry where I specialized in the husbandry and conservation of reptiles and amphibians.  I also enjoyed working with big cats (Siberian tigers, African lions, Cougars) during my first zoo position at a small, Midwestern facility.  From that small zoo I was hired as a herpetologist by the National Aquarium in Baltimore (NAIB) where I worked with a large number of reptile and amphibian species; from miniscule dart frogs to large anacondas and many venomous species in between.  A personal highlight there was achieving the first successful captive reproduction of the Erabu sea snake (Laticauda semifasciata).  I left NAIB to work as a herpetologist in the academic world and now work as a contract field biologist, again, specializing in herpetology.  I never lost my interest in captive reptiles and amphibians and have always kept a small, private collection.  My collection focuses on arboreal boas and pythons.  It is not large, but is exquisite,  consisting only of animals that immediately caught my attention upon seeing them.  This gut reaction is my rule of thumb when considering adding to the collection.  It keeps the collection small, but one that I am very proud of.  I will occasionally offer offspring produced from my collection for others to enjoy.
